ast night, in attempt to avoid doing work, I decided to sit down and watch a movie my roommate had rented. Looking back, I wish I had done the work, it would have been far more bearable than the horrendous acting in Excess Baggage. Words can not do justice as to how badly this movie annoyed the piss out of me.
First off, I'll start with the plot, which I mean wasn't too bad, but I've seen the "poor little rich girl" starving for Daddy's attention before, however, she does go to great lengths, and kidnaps herself, which gets screwed up and she meets this guy, and they get it on. So, it was sort of original, but still a re-hashed plot. And, it was just so unrealistic. I mean, come on, if my daughter faked her own kidnapping, and cost me a million dollars. As soon as she got home, I'd bitch-slap her into next week. But the father in this movie doesn't care that she wasted a chunk of his money, and just goes on ignoring her.
Then there's the acting. How can I put this gently?...IT SUCKED!!! To begin with Christopher Walken (Dead Zone) is in this. And his lack of feeling and ability to speak like a normal person grates on my ears like fingernails to a chalk board. But he was probably the most tolerable, because who else is in the movie? Alicia Silverstone(Clueless), who we all know can't act, except for playing a ditz. Then there's this guy that she picked to be in the movie because she thought he was cute: Benito something Mussolini or some shit like that. I don't know what he's been in before, nor do I care, because he ranks right up there with Christopher Walken for speaking and acting. Overall, he's just a person who needs a good beating.
I'm sorry if I've offended anyone out there with this review, who thinks that anyone of these actors are good, but hey, let's be realisitic, it's the truth. They all have no talent. Well maybe Christopher Walken, because I have seen something he was good in, but that was a long time ago. But none the less, if you just want to bitch for two hours, then go and squander the $2.99 at Blockbuster and rent this movie, because it gives you more than enough material to bitch about.
