icky Coogin should have known better than to lend his name to a dangerous toxic chemical promotion. Ricky Coogin should have known better than to fly to South America to see the chemical in action. Ricky Coogin should have known better than to let his hormones control his actions once he debarked from the plane. I should have known better than to wait so long to rent this movie. But as Ricky knows, hindsight is 20/20.
Okay, the story goes like this. Rick needs money. Rick lends his name and face to a dangerous (banned in the US) chemical. Rick flys to South America. Rick sees a cute girl. Rick picks up girl named Julie through a bit of deception. Rick and Julie (and Rick's Banky-like friend) set off in a jeep. Banky gets lost and they end up at a Freak sideshow. Mad scientist Elijah C. Skuggs (Randy Quaid) staffs his freaky homestead with hapless visitors by using his "Freak Machine" and the dangerous chemical to turn humans into freaks. Will our loveable trio ever escape, leading their ragtag army to freedom? Will the corporation responsible for the chemical ever come to justice? And more importantly, will our freakish friends ever return to a normal life?
All these questions and more are yours to discover in "Freaked".
While this movie is an enjoyable trip down circus sideshow lane (but it's no Jim Rose Sideshow), it is enjoyably bad because of the freaks that acted in. Mr. T is priceless. Not since the A-Team has he been so on target. Megan Ward is just simply cute and adorable. Keanu Reeves is a dog as the dog boy. Randy Quaid is at his pre-ID4 best.
This movie is a fun romp through campy jokes and situations, and is well worth the price of admission to Bad Movie Night.
