Half Baked
(1998)
Reviewed by Mike Miller
Rating: 3.5 Beans

aving been a fan of the Cheech and Chong films, i was kind of looking forward to this new entry in the "Aren't Potheads Funny?" sub-genre. However, I was thoroughly dissapointed at the waste of time and talent in this picture. The leads, Dave Chappelle (the obnoxious comic in The Nutty Professor) Jim Breuer (Saturday Night Live) and Harland Williams (Rocketman) are all stand-up comics with good routines. Unfortunately, none of them are really allowed to do their stuff here. Breuer plays way too far over the top, and neither Williams nor Chappelle ever really appear to be stoned.

The celebrity cameos are the only funny parts, including Jon Stewart as "The Enhanced Smoker" (the guy who thinks everything is better on weed), Stephen Baldwin as "The MacGyver Smoker" (the guy who can make a bong out of anything), and Snoop Doggy Dog as "The Scavenger Smoker" (the guy who never has any pot of his own, but always seems to show up when somebody else has some). Good for a rental, but only if you yourself are stoned!
