Tears of Julian Po, The
(1997)

k this movie left me kinda disappointed........I decided to rent this movie from the local Blockbuster here in Alexandria, VA cause well a friend of mine told me it was a great movie.....Obviously it isn't that good of a movie or else I wouldn't be sitting here typing away at my computer trying to come up with a nice way of trashing the movie.

Ok so trashing the movie isn't exactly what I am going to do. First off the movie stars Christian Slater (sign one that it will not end up being a very good movie) as a drifter who is trying to reach the ocean. Well he ends up in this no name little town that nothing ever happens in. The townsfolk are shocked at his entrance, he comes in with no car and is only carrying a single suitcase. Well suspisions arise and the townsfolk start to believe that he is a killer, or a drug dealer, or is running from something.

Therefore they decide to corner him and confront him about his intentions in this quaint little town. Well some of the people say you came here to kill someone didn't you........Christian Slater gives his best attempt at saying no, I didn't come here to kill anyone, but finally he cracks and admits, I came here to kill myself.

Well most people would be taken back by this and want to help him, but not this town. Everyone wants to see him die, and they try their hardest to get poor Julian to do what he said he wanted to do.

Well during the towns effort Julian meets Sarah (played by Encino Man's Robin Tunney) and well she confesses her love for him the first time they speak. She has been waiting her whole life for someone to come to her, and she is sure it is Julian. Well now Julian slowly falls in love with Sarah, and while the town is waiting to see Julian kill himself, Julian gives some advice to the townsfolk, and these people seem to blindly follow him in every thing he says. The funny thing is nothing Julian says means anything. It is the same old stuff everyone is used to hearing in situation. Like if you keep on waiting you will realize it is too late, stuff like that.

Anyway Julian finally decides he loves Sarah, and well she decides that since he is going to kill himself she might as well show her love for him, and kill herself first so she can wait for him on the other better side.

I didn't really ruin anything there, cause well you know from the first meeting the girl is deranged. Anyhow Julian now has a decision and makes this decision based on how he now feels. I cant ruin th e ending, that would be pointless, and make this a bad review of sorts. Anyhow go and see this bad movie, it has some good points, but it is kinda slow i warn you.....The dialog is not very good, but i actually found myself having a few laughs at the town....Anyway it is a movie, yes bad, but bearable. It could be worse, it could star Pauley Shore.
