walked into the theatre not quite knowing to expect. This Oliver Stone bomb had come and gone from the big screens faster than you can say "Wagons East!" So I was hoping for a waste of brain cells to provide fodder for a decent review.
I was disappointed. The Film was a masterful work, worthy of the art-house scene, with beautifully twisted images and a well woven plot. Sean Penn stars in this movie about having a really bad day. I would tell you his character's name, but in the movie, it isn't really important.
What is important is that his car breaks down in the middle of the arizona desert, and the only person in fifty miles who can fix it is Kevin, (Billy Bob Thornton) a hickish auto mechanic, something along the lines of a Forrest Gump Evil Twin. From there, Sean Penn's day gets worse. And worse. Better, but then worse. I can't say much more without giving it away.
Also starring in this one are Nick Nolte, Claire Danes, and a couple of 'Wow! I Love That Guy' actors.
This was a very good flick. It makes you uncomfortable, and it makes you think. mostly it makes you want to check your radiator hose often, just in case.
