irst off, I would like to say that I am going to be very biased on the reviewing of this movie. This is for several reasons, the first of which is: I Love Weird Al! Why, ever since I was a youngin', knee high to a gopher, I have enjoyed the musical stylings of this curly-haired freak. I own a fair amount of his CD's, tapes, and even this movie. I have watched it at least 25 times (sick, huh) and can't get tired of it. So, now you know.
Were to begin...Lets start with the cast. Weird Al as George Newman and Micheal Richards as the brillant Stanley Spadowski are the two most notable members. George is good, but Stanley is absolutly hilarious as a Gumpish janitor turned kids show host. If you thought Kramer was spastic and bizarre, you ain't seen nothing yet. Victoria Jackson and Kevin McCarthy are excellent as well, but don't have the stand out roles.
Right about now you are probably asking yourself, "This is a bad movie review, so why is he ranting and raving on how good this one is?". Simple, the movie is bad. Just bad in a really good way, catch my drift. Nudge-nudge, wink-wink. It was a movie made to be stupid. It is one big giant parody on other movies, ripping off everything from "Indiana Jones" to "Conan" to "Rambo". The game shows that George comes up with are so bizzare that they are actually funny ("Wheel of Fish" being the front runner).
I could go on and on about the characters and shows that are in "UHF" but it would be meaningless and take some of the fun away from you. Final Notes: Rent this movie when you have had one or more of the following: Too much caffine, too little sleep, too much sugar, just in a "wacky" mood, or are really, really depressed (there is just no way to be sad while watching this movie). It's a bad movie, just a damn funny one, so do yourself a favor, watch it at least once.
